A large number of examples are used in the description of each language providing insight for the design and implementation of FPLDs. 
With the addition of the Altera UP-1 prototyping board, all examples can be tested and verified in a real FPLD.

Amazing insight into Con Law

I wasn't fortunate to get placed with the best ConLaw professor and this book has saved me! This book does an amazing job of going into the analysis of each case and explaining how they all fit together. I got Example and Explanations for Property, but for Con Law this book is the way to go!

Good Photos, No Captions

I bought this book because I'm a fan of Terry Richardson's work more than of Gaga's, and the book is really affordable. Maybe if i knew more about Lady Gaga and followed her tour schedule I'd understand what was going on in the photos, know where they were taken, recognize the people with her. Since I don't, the lack of captions in this book is a major frustration. Are those her parents in some photos? Why is she crying? Is the blood smearing her body prop blood, or did she have an accident on stage? If you're a big fan you're probably sneering right now, but I'm a curious guy and really want to know. I love Terry's online diary, where the photos have simple captions to fill me in on his enviable life. On the plus side, I now know that Gaga has a great butt, and that she looks much better, younger, more vulnerable without the wigs and make-up. In my opinion those photos are the best, where you can see she's just an ordinary young girl, and I would have replaced the cover photo with the one of her lying in bed partially covered by messy sheets, her arm up over her head, looking right at the camera, almost like a young Marilyn. Sure would like to see that photo at full size... Photos like that really bring out a side of Gaga we never see, and that's where Terry's genius really lies.

More For Fun Than For Photography Skills.

I am a enormous Gaga fan and I was really looking forward to this book. I still like it very much, but I was a little disappointed. I love the fact that the pictures are totally random, but I did expect them to be professionally taken by Terry Richardson. I must compliment Terry for capturing Gaga raw in her everyday life although at most 10% of the pictures look like they where thought out (like the one where Gaga is eating pasta, or the one where she is looking down the balcony with a cigarette, and the one with her hand sticking out of the water, or even the few black-and-white close-ups of her face) while the rest have people and hands in the way, or Gaga is just brushing her teeth, which makes it more relatable and is fun to page through, but there was no point in getting a professional photographer to do this job. It also makes me wonder who is taking the pictures when half of them include Terry Richardson...

On the other hand, all the pictures are very good quality, and totally exclusive to the book. The quality of the book and binding is very high too. As I said in my title, nobody is going to study or look closely at any of these pictures, since most of them could be taken by me or you or any random homeless guy as long as he knows how to use a camera. I still recommend this book to Gaga fans, but not if you want to see well taken pictures. If you are tight for money, I suggest you get Born This Way - The Collection [2 CD / DVD Combo] instead, because it is much more enjoyable and practical, since this book weighs a ton

If Amazon would allow it, I would give it 3.5/5, but 3/5 it is :)

Great value for pop merchandise

I am a big Lady Gaga fan so buying this book was not a question to me. Half-hearted or casual fans might not care so much. But here's my two cents.

The book itself is a huge hardback, almost textbook size. There are at least a couple hundred pages of full-page color and black/white photographs. All of it is unique photography and not reiterated promographs.

It contains various stages of drunk and nakedness, meaning it might not be the best coffee table book for when your in laws visit. Some photos are split onto two pages when they really should not be (because the cut off point is really odd and not intuitive). Some pages are left blank randomly, but not a large number of them. None of the photos have captions, so unless you know your Gaga you will not know when anything was taken, who is in the photos (besides Gaga which is obvious), or any fashion credits.

So it is not the perfect photo book, but for a gaga fan I'd consider it a must-have.

Shortly thereafter, Alex witnesses a pig falling off the back of a truck driven by a reckless driver, and he and his friends and family rescue it. When its owner shows up to claim it, the Kendrills refuse to release it. When Hogman again attempts to reclaim the animal, he kidnaps Alex's cat, Pete. His family then sets out to locate the feline and prove that the man is involved in illegal trapping. Kehret has a unique writing style, and the text includes long stretches of story narrated by Pete. Some of these scenes are deliciously snarky, with the cat looking up words in the dictionary that start with the letters c-a-t and giving a detailed description of coughing up furballs. The technique is also effective when he describes what happens to him during his kidnapping. Having helped rescue workers save a pig that falls from Hogman's recklessly driven truck, Alex suspects the tough-talking hermit of setting traps, but it's the cat who finds the evidence--and who is nearly shot in the suspenseful climax. Despite major holes in the story's internal logic, young fans of Spy Cat (2002) and Stranger Next Door (2001) will enjoy watching the cat expedite Hogman's apprehension while grousing that his human associates are too dim to realize that he's trying to communicate with them. A gripping story for all animal lovers.

Pete, the cat, has helped to write another good story. This time he helps a pig in trouble. Pete understands what his humans are saying but is not pleased that they never seem to listen to him. If you like a well-written story, this one's for you.

Fun and Suspense for a developing Mystery Fan

We had to find a Mystery book for my 4th grader's book report and we discovered Pete! He is the main character of a series of books by Peg Kehret, and he is a cat with attitude! As the story is told, it is punctuated with Pete's personal views and comments which had my daughter laughing and running to us to read her favorite parts aloud! She loved this book and we have bought more in the series! Pete will appeal to girls and boys!

I bought my son a Pete the Cat book at a local bookstore. It was such fun that he wanted more. I immediately ordered the others here. We both enjoyed reading the book. He likes me to read him a chapter or two at bedtime each night even though at 8 he is an excellent reader on his own. Pete the detective cat is great fun. I hope there are more of this series in the works.

About the Author
James Pickles is the Head of the Hearing Unit, University of Queensland, Brisbane. He was previously Reader in Auditory Physiology in the Department of Physiology at the University of Birmingham, UK, and moved to the Vision, Touch and Hearing Research Centre in 1989. He has been financed by a Garnett Passe and Rodney Williams Memorial Foundation Senior Research Fellowship. Before that, he was an Australian Senior Research Fellow of the Australian Research Council.

Dr James Pickles' research concentrates on the function, development, regeneration, and pathology of the hair cells of the cochlea. The work is a development of the discovery of 'tip links', fine macromolecular strands that interconnect the tips of the mechanosensitive hairs or stereocilia on the cells, enabling the cells to detect sound.
